PostSubject: Yes, Twilight   Thu Apr 24, 2008 12:37 am

I just finished reading "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer AKA Super Mormon Mom... and I'm not excited or motivated AT ALL. And there are two other books? Blimey, I'll pass.

Such blah story.

Teenage dirtbag falls in love with a vampire that has nothing better to do with eternity than to pretend being in High School in a loser little town. I mean, seriously?

And that's pretty much everything. With all the possibilities open for an almost indestructible, seductive and immortal being... and all they do is holding hands and getting all mushy, and acting like PMSing drama queens the whole bloody book.

Is that what "Literature for Young Adults" means? Gosh, thanks but no thanks. I remember reading the Vampire Chronicles since I was 11 years old... now THOSE are vampires. Now that's exciting, and rich, and imaginative vampire literature.

And I used to think Buffy and that sod with the white hair, Spike were limp. Ha, *AT LEAST* they were having sex...

Pleaaaaaaaaase burn Twilight and scatter the ashes to hell. And the rest of the saga for that matter.

And I want the 3 days of life I spent reading it back. Mad

Haha I feel your pain... I'm reading the book now and it is far from the brilliant masterpiece the teen girl population holds it up to be. And Host or whatever it's called is just as bad (Meyer has the first chapter on her website). Give me a break, sci-fi for people who don't read sci-fi? As a sci-fi writer, I take great offense to someone like her taking credit for character-based sci-fi. Pure BS, she's nothing new, and nothing of note.

Sorry I get a little cranky at times....

Yeah I fell for the pretty cover too.

But exactly what in the book is encouraging girls to want to smoke? scratch

I don't know, Godiva, but reading it makes me want to take up smoking!

P.S. I'm now on chaper 19 I believe. FINALLY something is happening, I feel like I could have skipped the first half of the book with no regrets.

I haven't even read the book, but because all of the stupid fangirls--which greatly ruined the value of the book, by the way--I pretty much know that I do not want to waste my time with it.

I wanted to read the book, but because everything was spoiled for me by those *cough*children*cough*, I now know that book needs to be wadded up and thrown at the fire of an atom blaster.

For one thing, they're in love with Edward, the stalker, the future spousal abuser, and just plain creepy from what I've heard. They talk about how wonderful he is. How is stalking wonderful? How is controlling Bella fabulous? Oh my god, seriously, get a life!

And Bella, I have heard she cannot stand up for herself. She depends on either Edward or Jacob to help her. She's a whiny, damsel-in-distress, and I heard that Meyer says she's wonderful, but yet she wrote Bella as a sociopath.

And the plot, cliche! Falling in love with a boy because of his mysterious beauty, what's that all about? I hear the relationship is based on pretty much lust and physical feelings.

From what it sounds, even if Edward raped Bella, she would still follow him like a pining pony.

Book sounds stupid, I do not want to waste my life or my time with it. And hell to those stupid fangirls! Fangirls ruin the value of everything, even though from what it seems, Twilight had no value to begin with.

Thank you! Oh, and by the way, the title for your story was strange...but it added a sort of humor to it.

Yeah, the title has more to do with what happens later but I'm somewhat working on a novel and just finished a few short stories recently. I'll admit I didn't put as much effort into this one, as you might be able to tell. It was just sort of for fun but I'll try to address your thorough feedback ASAP. Thanks.

I actually posted a short, crappy story on yahooanswers making fun of Twilight, and only two people seem to get that I'm making fun of Twilight. One girl was like, aside from the breaking wind part, I suppose it's okay. It's like, 'hello!' I'm making fun of Twilight. The fact that she sees Twilight as a gift an insult to her character should throw up red flags!!!
