Grabbag is Duke Nukem 3D's theme for you non- badasses and/or nerds. Anyways, Connor already heard it, but I actually like this kid's version better then Megedeth's, aside from the wierdly placed sound clips, he played and mixed the instruments really well. I think this is my favorite version of the song, if not the one from Manhatten Project. Good news for me and Connor, Duke Nukem 4 (Duke Nukem FOUR-EVER) Duke Nukem Forever (get it. just like ...

SPOILERS

I debated placing this book in the other not-so-nice section, and I didn't want to be biased because I like Bradbury. So let's get all the mean comments out of the way upfront...

I didn't like some major things about this book. For one, there didn't seem to be a plot, per say. I'm not against unconventionality, but the opening pages were very dry to me, despite Bradbury's saturated language, barely keeping it from crumbling away to dust. This set the tone for many ...

This book is an absolutely amazing representation of Bradbury's tale-telling abilities. The story of Jim Nightshade and Will Halloway, thirteen years old and in the season of Holloween's October when Cooger and Dark's Pandemonium Shadow Show rolls through town and threatens time itself.

The story seems to center heavily on life, death and the passage of time i.e. aging.

For stories that are simply told by word of mouth and not written down. But I guess the H&B Pub could kind of double for that. I have so many crazy stories from my friend's Dad taking out a shotgun cause the party was too loud to snorting coke with a run away girl and stealing a car to get to Jacksonville with her. Wow... what crazy adventures I've had.

"One For the Books" is a bookstore in Cape Coral that offers new and used books as well as special orders. Art and music are also sold at the store.

Friendly atmosphere, good prices and nice people. A much preferred alternative to the Barnes and Nobles' of the world, where a paperback might run you 15-20 dollars. I am officially boycotting any bookstore with a major coffee shop chain built into the interior.

Check out One for the Books at their website: http://www.capecoralbooks.com/

The Mars Volta, for their songs Televators and The Widow. Televators largely got me through a very crucial scene of loss and jading. The very somber mood was very compelling. And The Widow helped mainly in allowing me to reflect on what I wanted my character to become (as he is recently, in fact, ...

A crow with one eye is staring rudely at the girlfriend of a British sailor as the couple eat lunch at an outdoors cafe. The bird is really staring at a crumb from a pastrie that has fallen on her breast, but the sailor, who has swallowed a bit too much saltwater in his day, doesn't take kindly to the crow's gawking and sqwacking.

He'll defend her honor, to the death!

But in an English non-confrontational way. Write the scene without the sailor actually interacting with the crow.

Still, this section seemed lonely, and the Sanibel Writer's Conference is way fun albeit exhausting. I probably won't be able to take off work nor score a free ticket (and I definitely don't have money to burn) so likely I won't be there, but here's the website for anyone who is interested.

I admit I was biased by the crappy movie, but this is probably one of Stephen King's bestest works.

Haven't finished it by I'm loving each and one of the 900+ pages of this non linear intelligent, humorous, obscene dark narration.

"From the Dust Returned" Ray Bradbury.

I've always loved Bradbury's style of writing. Fahrenheit isn't my favorite book or anything, but I certainly enjoy him as a linguist and as a story teller.

From the Dust is a perfect example of Bradbury's poetic abilities, with a narration that is almost theatric, with all the Oh!'s and Ah!'s of a Broadway production.

The basic premise is a family of ghouls and gaunts that have adopted a human boy, Timothy, and who live in a haunted ...

Lon Po Po is a spin on the Little Red Ridinghood tale through the rich voice of Chinese heritage.

A mad man is speeding recklessly down the streets of east L.A. I don't know where east L.A. is, for all I know it doesn't exist -- I've never seen it. It sounded good, anyways. Whatever, so he's speeding recklessly down the street and swerving to hit helpless animals and use the elderly for speed bumps. What a jerk! Write the scene from the point of view of the right passenger side hub cap.
